Serbian PM comments on Bush's statements in Tirana

BELGRADE, June 11 (Hina) - The United States must find some other way of showing its affection and love for Albanians, instead of giving them Serbian territory, Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said on Monday in a comment on a statement US President George W. BELGRADE, June 11 (Hina) - The United States must find some other way of showing its affection and love for Albanians, instead of giving them Serbian territory, Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said on Monday in a comment on a statement US President George W. Bush made in Tirana on Sunday, saying his country believed that Kosovo should be independent.

In a statement for the media, Kostunica said that Serbia was rightfully embittered about the US policy towards the Kosovo issue and expected the USA to respect the UN Charter and not resort to "real violence".

"By bombing Serbia the United States made a mistake big enough for both the past and current century. Another mistake in the form of support for the unilateral independence of Kosovo would be an act of injustice and violence the Serb people would not forget," Kostunica said.

Serbia will reject and annul any form of independence of its southern province, which will always be an integral and inalienable part of its territory, Kostunica added.

Citing sources at the prime minister's office, some Belgrade media reported that following announcements that "Albanian separatists" could unilaterally declare Kosovo's independence, the Serbian government had already prepared a decision that would invalidate, in the shortest time possible, a document on unilateral independence and creation of "a new state on Serbia's territory".
