I also came to here to encourage the government to apply the clearly defined programme so as to continue with European integration processes and economic reforms and conclude cooperation with the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague," Rehn told reporters after talks with new Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. Jeremic said that European Integration processes were the the main priority of the new government in Serbia.
Rehn said the new government was committed to European integration processes and cooperation with the ICTY, adding that he expected to new government to be determined in implementing the plan on cooperation with the Hague tribunal so that negotiations on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU would resume.
After the talks with Rehn, the new Serbian foreign minister also commented on the Kosovo issue, stressing that Serbia would never accept independent Kosovo, but that it was prepared to resume negotiations on the future status of this UN-govern province seeking independence.
Rehn is also scheduled to meet Serbian President Boris Tadic, prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and deputy PM Bozidar Djelic.
