ZAGREB, May 28 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Education Minister Dragan Primorac on Monday launched a national campaign called "Secondary Education for All".

The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness about the need to introduce compulsory secondary education, PM Sanader said in Zagreb, adding that this move should pave the way for changes in the constitution so as to provide for the introduction of compulsory secondary education.

Sanader presented figures which he labelled as shocking. According to the 2001 census, 1.5 million inhabitants in Croatia had not graduated from secondary schools.

Sanader also spoke about government plans to ensure that Croatia would have the best educational system in Europe by 2010.

Primorac said that findings of a recent opinion poll showed that about 85 percent of respondents among parents and 71 percent of respondents among pupils supported the establishment of compulsory secondary education.
