Compared to the revised data from 2005, the banks' gross profit increased by around HRK 200 million, or 5.2 per cent.
Meanwhile, the banks' assets at the end of December 2006 totalled HRK 304.6 billion, which was HRK 44.3 billion or 17 per cent more than at the end of 2005.
At the end of last year, 33 banks were operating in Croatia, 15 of which were foreign owned, 16 were domestic privately owned banks while two were state owned.
The share of the foreign owned banks in the total assets of all the banks in Croatia was as much as 90.8 per cent. The share of the domestic privately owned banks was 5 per cent and of the state owned banks 4.2 per cent.
The two largest banks, Zagrebacka Banka and Privredna Banka Zagreb, accounted for 41.3 per cent of the total assets of all the banks, while the four largest banks accounted for 64 per cent of the total assets.
