SKOPJE, May 17 (Hina) - Trade between Croatia and Macedonia in the first quarter of 2007 increased considerably in Croatia's favour, the Macedonian-Croatian Business Club said at a meeting in Skopje on Thursday.

The meeting, attended by the president of the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, Branko Azeski, discussed the functioning of trade between the two countries.

It was said that despite certain problems that were being gradually dealt with, such as customs procedures, Croatia's exports to Macedonia in the first three months of this year rose by 50 per cent while imports increased by 17 per cent.

Azeski thanked the Croatian Chamber of Economy for the assistance it was providing to the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce in its adjustment to European Union standards.

The Macedonian-Croatian Business Club was established within the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce last year at a ceremony attended by Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader. It has about 30 members, mainly representatives of Croatian businesses in Macedonia.
