ZAGREB/THESSALONIKI, May 9 (Hina) - A court in the Greek city of Thessaloniki has ordered the extradition of Ernest Radjen, an assistant coach of a Greek basketball club, to Croatia where he is charged with war crimes.

This 47-year-old ethnic Croatian Serb is charged with involvement in the 1991 atrocities in the village of Skabrnja near Zadar when tens of villagers were killed.

The Associated Press on Wednesday quoted the Greek court officials as saying that a Thessaloniki court had ordered the extradition to Croatia of an assistant coach at a Greek first division basketball club, to be tried on suspicion of participating in war crimes in Croatia.

Radjen, who joined PAOK Thessaloniki in January 2006, was arrested in September on an international warrant issued on behalf of Croatian authorities. But he was released following delays in the extradition request, and continued to work for PAOK.

Initially armed rebellion charges against Radjen were dropped under the Croatian amnesty law. However, in 2001, the Zadar County launched an investigation against him on suspicion that he perpetrated war crimes against Skabrnja villagers in November 1991.
