The purpose of the two-day visit is to encourage the Croatian authorities to facilitate reforms that will enable the country to make progress on the road to the EU.
Frattini is expected to meet President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, the ministers of justice, foreign and home affairs, the parliament speaker, and other state officials. He is also expected to address the government.
Talks with Croatian officials will focus on the course of EU accession talks, with emphasis on the policy chapters Judiciary and fundamental rights and Justice, freedom and security.
Frattini will be one of the main speakers at a government presentation on achievements in the fields of judiciary and home affairs in the process of EU integration.
The EC official will also attend a meeting of Southeast European ministers of internal affairs and justice, to be held on Friday as part of Croatia's presidency of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
Frattini and the ministers of justice and internal affairs from Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina will initial visa facilitation and readmission agreements, the EC Delegation said.
