ZAGREB, April 23 (Hina) - A round-table discussion on the enforcement of the Right of Access to Information Act, organised by the non-governmental election monitoring organisation known by its Croatian acronym GONG, took place in the Parliament building on Monday.

The National Security Council is most likely to send the final bill on data secrecy to Parliament before the summer break. The bill is expected to reduce the previously proposed number of persons deciding on data classification, specify conditions under which data may be declared secret and strengthen the data secrecy control system, Office representative Josko Badzim told reporters after the discussion.

Responding to a reporter's remark that it is unclear why the proposed bill gives local government units the possibility of declaring certain documents secret, Badzim said that analyses had shown the need for some data falling within the authority of local government units to be declared secret.

He, however, said that the final bill would considerably reduce the possibility of such documents being classified as secret.
