The event, organised by the US company Applied Science and Analysis from Maryland and the Croatian Defence Ministry, will gather participants from more than 45 countries -- about 300 scientists and experts in the prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, modern detection and identification of chemical and biological agents.
Today and on Sunday, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons will present the Chemical Weapons Convention. Participants will discuss the control of the passage of chemicals across state borders, the implementation of the Convention, the regime of inspections of how and to what extent existing chemical weapons are being destroyed, and if states apply the Convention.
A demonstration exercise will be held at Dubrovnik's airport on April 18. The congress will feature seminars, round-table debates, and workshops.
