Gov't to draw up law on organised employee stock holding

ZAGREB, April 2 (Hina) - The organised employee stock holding will be regulated by a separate act instead by the Privatisation Act, and the government is not going to draw a new law on privatisation but it will propose its amendments, Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec said on Monday after meeting trade unionists.

Deputy PM Polancec and representatives of trade union federations, who met in the government's offices on Monday, agree that the government will draw up amendments to the Privatisation Act and formulate a separate law regulating the organised employe stock holding whose acronym in Croatian is ORD.

Polancec announced a round table discussion to be held in next weeks.

The round table debate, which will be organised by the government's Social Partnership Office, will gather "all factors, both from Croatia and abroad, that have something to say about the ORD," he added.

One of trade unionists said that the ORD should make it possible for employees to take part in a company's ownership and profits no matter whether it may be a private company or a state-owned one.
