PULA, March 22 (Hina) - Serbia's ambassador to Croatia, Radivoje
Cveticanin, said during his meeting with the head of Istria County, Ivan
Jakovcic, in Pula on Thursday that Istria and the northern Serbian province of
Vojvodina were cooperating very well and that their cooperation was "the
strongest link in the development of Croatian-Serbian relations."
Cveticanin said that the cooperation between Croatia and Serbia had slowed down
in recent time, citing objective reasons, including the separation of
Montenegro from its union with Serbia.
"We're interested in economic cooperation with Croatia, particularly
with Istria," the ambassador said.
Jakovcic said he was pleased with cooperation with Vojvodina,
expressing a wish for good relations with Serbia. He noted that both economic
and cultural cooperation were important because many of Istria's citizens were
born in Serbia.
Jakovcic expressed hope that Serbia would also become a member of the
European Union soon.
