Speaking at a press conference in Belgrade on Monday, Djuro Trkulja said that his organisation would offer legal aid to Serb refugees from Croatia and other citizens wishing to reclaim their property in Croatia, and announced that its legal experts would soon appear before Croatian courts in a dozen such cases.
Trkulja said that "there is no demarcation line between the executive and the judicial authorities" in Croatia and that today ethnic cleansing continued with the help of the judiciary. He stressed that the issue would be internationalised at the level of the EU and the UN.
Trkulja said his organisation would use methods that had been used in his own case, including both legal means and diplomatic pressure on the Croatian government.
Trkulja cited Zadar, Sibenik, Split and Knin as areas where Serb refugees were encountering the greatest problems in efforts to repossess their property. He also announced that his organisation would represent 600 citizens of Serbia who want their property in Pirovac back.
