ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Monday
received Erika Elizabeth Feller, Assistant UN High Commissioner for Refugees
(UNHCR), for talks on issues of refugee return and reintegration and the
settlement of property and social problems plaguing refugees, the Office of the
President said in a statement. President Mesic warned about the
need to adopt a regional approach to solving refugee problems, with strong
support from international institutions.
Feller conveyed greetings from High Commissioner Antonio Guterres and
recalled the path of the UN agency, which had been intended as a three-year
project to deal with refugee problems after WWII, and was given an unlimited
term only recently.
Warning about problems which Croatia is yet to face when it joins the
EU and becomes one of its border countries, Feller promised full support and
cooperation on behalf of the UNHCR.
