Croatia to ratify Kyoto Protocol soon

ZAGREB, March 11 (Hina) - The Croatian Environmental Protection Ministry has nearly finished a bill on ratification of the Kyoto Protocol as part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
ZAGREB, March 11 (Hina) - The Croatian Environmental Protection Ministry has nearly finished a bill on ratification of the Kyoto Protocol as part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The bill will be forwarded to Parliament in the next three months.

After Parliament ratifies the document it will go into force within 90 days.

The ministry said that a strategy and an action plan for reducing climate changes in Croatia is also nearly completed, which will establish cost efficient measures aimed at meeting obligations from the Kyto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an amendment to the international treaty on climate change, assigning mandatory emission limitations for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to signatory nations The Kyoto Protocol now covers more than 160 countries globally and over 55% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
