BELGRADE, Feb 14 (Hina) - Serbia has a prospect of integrating
with the European Union, but in order to continue talks on integration, the new
Serbian government must give a clear signal that it is ready to cooperate with
the Hague war crimes tribunal, Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Boot said in
Belgrade on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters after meeting Serbian
Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic, Boot said that Serbia should form as soon as
possible a new pro-European government that would give a clear sign that it was
willing to arrest fugitives from the UN tribunal.
Boot, who also met President Boris Tadic, said he was satisfied with
Tadic's assurances that Serbia's negotiating team would travel to Vienna on
February 21 to continue talks on Kosovo's future status. The Dutch official
added that it was better to find a solution through mutual understanding than
to impose it.
