ZAGREB, Feb 10 (Hina) - The president of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, called on Saturday on all members of the party's Youth to become fully engaged so that the HDZ could win parliamentary elections in November.

Sanader said that although his party respected all political rivals, the HDZ would be party forming the new government in December.

Speaking at a convention of the HDZ Youth, Sanader said a chance should be given to the young who wanted to take over responsibility for Croatia, which he said could provide them with a future. "The time has come for us to create conditions so that young people will stay in Croatia and not move abroad."

Sanader said that everything could be achieved, despite problems and obstacles, and that young people must make suggestions and resolve problems by accepting challenges and not putting up with the status quo or accepting compromises.

He also said that young people had borne the heaviest burden in the defence of Croatia. "We can be proud of their contribution to the creation of free and independent Croatia under the leadership of the HDZ and the first Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman".

About 830 envoys attended the HDZ Youth convention, which is expected to elect a new leadership.
