ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday decorated numerous prominent figures from the public, social, scientific and cultural life and business people in recognition of their years-long work and
contribution to Croatia's development. The decoration-awarding ceremony was held in the offices of the head of state on the occasion of Statehood Day which Croatia observes on 25 June.
ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on
Tuesday decorated numerous prominent figures from the public, social,
scientific and cultural life and business people in recognition of their
years-long work and contribution to Croatia's development. The
decoration-awarding ceremony was held in the offices of the head of state on
the occasion of Statehood Day which Croatia observes on 25 June.
Congratulating the recipients, President Mesic said in his speech that
consequences of the ongoing crisis showed that the was a structural crisis in
the public politics.
This is not only about consequences of the collapse of neo-liberal
capitalism but also about consequences of a crisis of ethics and system of
values, Mesic said.
He reiterated that Croatia's huge efforts to complete its accession
negotiations with the European Union had not yet yielded expected results due
to Slovenia's blocakde of Croatia's talks.
