The Supreme Court head is appointed by the national parliament at the proposal tabled by the country's President, which should be supported by that court as well as by the parliamentary Judiciary Committee.
Addressing the parliamentary committee's session today, Hrvatin said that he would continue carrying out projects he had launched in his first term in office.
He said that in the last four years the number of backlog cases was reduced from 1.6 million to 860,000.
Although he expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Hrvatin said that he would try to see to it that being a part of the executive authorities, the ministry would no longer have the direct clout on the appointment of presidents of courts.
