Overall conditions were fairly brisk and several traders showed some surprise that prices absorbed the bouts of pricing following stale long liquidation which hit late Friday. "Considering the third Wednesday pricing both recent market leaders copper and aluminium stood up well," one trader commented. Three months delivery copper at one stage moved to a low of $1,930 as tight nearby spreads eased, though never looked like testing support at $1,925 as shorts decided to cover. Last business was at $1,937, a loss of $20 from Friday's LME kerb close. Lead, under long liquidation and light investment fund selling, ended just above seven-month lows of $735. Traders said they expected lead to consolidate around current levels, given this mornings decline came in thin volume. "There was little in the way of volume as buyers backed off fearful of a full-blown decline in the copper market," one trader said. Last business was at $738, versus $751. Aluminium eased, though like copper stiff inderlying support offset further declines. It was last at $1,328, a loss of $9. Trade buying and short-covering helped to underpin zinc which settled at $1,016, versus $1,026. Nickel ended quietly at $7,140, down $10, while tin settled at $6,000, $60 lower. Aluminium alloy was indicated at $1,200/05, against $1,200. FRANCUSKA BURZA KOVINA - 14. listopada 1996. BAKAR FFR/100 KG 1069 KOSITAR FFR/100 KG 3655 CINK EL.
