Losses accelerated once stops were triggered below 74.25 cents a lb in March delivery, they added. The contract closed barely above support at 74.00 cents and then at 73.30 cents. March settled down 0.32 cent at 74.26 cents after trading from 75.00 to 73.95 cents. The back months ended 0.25 to 0.05 weaker. Volume estimated at 10,000 lots. Analysts said the market could rack up gains Wednesday when USDA releases its monthly supply and demand data. They said the recent brisk sales, coupled with shrinking supplies overseas, will prompt USDA to raise its export forecast to between 6.4 million and 6.6 million 480-lb bales from 6.3 million bales. Estimates for U.S. output and domestic consumption are expected to be unchanged at 18.95 million bales and 11.0 million bales, respectively. 111028 MET feb 97
