ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - Croatian Defence Minister Gojko Susak this
evening held a press conference in connection with the signing of
the Croatian-U.S. Memorandum on defence and military co-operation.
The press conference also focused on the current military and
political situation in Croatia.
The Croatian Army headquarters Chief of Staff, General Janko
Bobetko, and the head of the Office for political issues, Brigadier
Ivan Tolj, were present at the conference.
Talking about the Memorandum, Minister Susak said it should
promote the co-operation between Croatia and the United States. He
recalled that the arms embargo was still imposed on Croatia and
that some forms of military co-operation were not yet possible.
Minister Susak called on Croatian citizens who lived in
occupied areas to co-operate with Croatian authorities in the
interest of peace.
"Croatia is ready for further talks, but it is also ready to
use all other means on which it has the right as a sovereign and
democratic country in the event that negotiations on a peaceful
reintegration fail," Minister Susak said.
