ZADAR, June 4 (Hina) - The Croatian army's command for the district
of Split (southern Croatia) issued a statement today in connection
with yesterday's explosion in the military ammunition depot at
Kukuzovac near Sinj when two Croatian army's soldiers were killed
and one wounded in the blast. The statement says that mines and
explosive devices were stored in the depot according to the
regulations on keeping such devices, so that the explosion did not
expanded.
According to the statement, the explosion, which burst in
front of the storage, was provoked possibly when a still not
identified explosive device fell on the ground during transit.
This device might be armour-piercing shell which damaged another
twenty mines.
The Army's investigating judge is continuing with the inquiry
into the incident.
