VITEZ, June 2 (Hina) - A group of about 30 Croatian Defence Council
(HVO) soldiers from Vitez blocked the Vitez-Busovaca road in
central Bosnia Wednesday evening.
British UN liaison officer Captain Simon, who for that reason
could not attend a meeting in Zenica, said he was told by the
soldiers that it was a form of pressure on the Vitez authorities to
pay their salaries.
Passanger and commodity traffic towards Zenica, Zepce and
further south has been suspended. This also includes humanitarian
convoys sponsored by international relief agencies.
Thursday morning the HVO soldiers were contacted by HVO
Brigadier Dario Kordic, but they rejected his call to lift the
blockade.
The HVO command in Vitez declined to comment on the incident.
