BOSNIAN SERBS HIJACK 14 FRENCH ARMOURED VEHICLES SO FAR, UN SAYS

ZAGREB, May 30 (Hina) - The situation is stable in Croatia, but there is certain tension in the buffer zones, together with registered several minor ceasefire breaches, UN spokesman Christopher Gunnes told a press conference in Zagreb on Tuesday. A Croatian liaison officer informed UN officials that a Croatian soldier had been killed and another wounded in an area southeast of Hrastine, eastern Slavonia (former sector east). In the area UN officials registered explosions but no casualties, Gunnes said. Serbs did not allow UN to enter an area where there are ruins of the shot helicopter in which Bosnia-Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Irfan Ljubijankic died, Gunnes added. The ruins of the helicopters are south of Cetingrad (in former sector north), Croatia, according to him. UN Secretary-General Ghali would postpone a submission of his report on UN force in Bosnia to the UN Security Council in order to include in it latest news and events on the ground, UN spokesman Fred Eckhard said. Major William Taylor, a UN officer, said Bosnian Serbs had hijacked 14 armoured vehicles of French UN contingent, according to so far available information. UN personnel could spot Serbs using the confiscated vehicles and some of them wearing French uniforms. Williams believed that vehicles might be used for tricks in Serbs actions, as it had been case during their attack on an observation post on Vrbanja Bridge in the very centre of Sarajevo.
