SARAJEVO, May 22 (Hina) - Bosnian Serbs took away two cannons from
a UN-monitored heavy weapons depot near Sarajevo early this
morning.
A band of Serb soldiers raided the arms collection site in
Poljine, north of Sarajevo, where heavy weapons were gathered after
NATO's ultimatum in February 1994, a spokeswoman for UNPROFOR,
Miriam Sochacko said today.
Serb grabbed two cannons with 122 and 105 mm calibres, she
said.
French 'blue helmets' on guard there, supposedly tried to
prevent Serbs from stealing the cannons, but they were blocked in
the depot by Serbs.
Additional UN troops could not arrive there to reinforce the
guard, because of thick fog.
UNPROFOR officials do not know where the grabbed cannons are
at the moment, but demanded from Serb commanders to return them.
