ZAGREB, Apr 2 (Hina) - UN Security Council (UN SC) passed
Resolution 983 on UN mandate in Macedonia last Friday in which it
reaffirmed "its commitment to the independence, sovereignty and
territorial integrity of the former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia".
The Resolution 983 reads that UN SC "decides that UN
Protection Force (UNPROFOR) within the former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia shall be known as the United Nations Preventive
Deployment Force (UNPREDEP) with the mandate set out in paragraph
85 of the report of the Security-General of 22 March 1995, and that
the mandate of UNPREDEP shall continue for a period terminating on
30 November 1995".
In the Resolution the UN SC "urges UNPREDEP to continue the
current cooperation between UNPROFOR and the mission of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe."
