Zagreb, March 23 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament speaker Nedjeljko
Mihanovic met this morning a European Parliament delegation for
South-Eastern Europe, led by European Popular Party
representative Doris Pack.
Under discussion was the situation in the UN protected
areas, Croatian policy towards rebel Serbs, the UN Protection
Force mandate and how the Copenhagen agreement would reflect the
peaceful resolution of the crises in Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
Mihanovic emphasized Croatia's cooperation with Europe and
the international community, which resulted in the Copenhagen
agreement and the extension of the UN mandate under different
terms.
He added that the Croatian parliamentary opposition rejected
such a move by President Tudjman. Another problem was refugees
wanting to return to their homes.
Mihanovic said he was confident the Croatian Parliament
would accept the decision on extending the UNPROFOR mandate which
would result in the deployment of international troops along
Croatian borders.
