ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The Croatian President's Chief of Staff,
Hrvoje Sarinic, today received the Commander of the UN Protection
Force in the former Yugoslavia, General Bertrand de Lapresle, who
was accompanied by Colonel Duburg, a Presidential Office statement
said.
The talks focused on the newly-developed situation following
Croatia's decision to cancel the UNPROFOR mandate after it expired
on March 31.
General de Lapresle said UNPROFOR would perform its mission
conscientiously and honourably until the end of its mandate. He
added that UNPROFOR would try to help as much as it could in
restoring confidence between rebel Serbs and the Croatian
government.
Also discussed was the situation regarding the resumption of
Serb attacks on the Bihac area of northwestern Bosnia from occupied
Croatian areas.
The talks inlcuded Croatian Army Lt. Gen. Zvonimir Cervenko
and Assistant Chief of Staff Vesna Skare-Ozbolt.
