SARAJEVO, Nov 21 (Hina) - The OSCE (Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe) permanent council, Thursday decided in
Vienna to extend the mandate of the OSCE mission in Bosnia-
Herzegovina by December 1997.
A statement, issued by the Sarajevo-based OSCE mission, said
the decision had been made in line with agreement reached by
participants in the November 14 Paris conference on the
implementation of peace accords.
The OSCE permanent council ordered to the OSCE mission in
Sarajevo to continue ensuring assistance in holding the municipal
elections due to be next year.
The OSCE mission in Bosnia got tasks to help build democracy
and to oversee and promote actively human rights in Bosnia.
The OSCE mission in Bosnia is expected to help implement
measures of regional stability and arms control during its 1997
mandate, according to the statement.
