SARAJEVO, Oct 30 (Hina) - Bosnian Serbs were exaggerating in use of
exceptions of an arms control agreement for countries in the former
Yugoslavia's area, reached in Dayton and confirmed in Florence, a
spokesman for the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE)
said in Sarajevo.
Pale-based Serb authorities were trying to retain a larger
number of tanks than allowed, under the pretext that the tanks
would be sold off, the OSCE spokesman David Foley said.
"Most of the tanks that Serbs claim are to be sold, are
obsolete models of T-34 and T-55 type, and it would be difficult
for them to find a buyer," Foley said.
However, he declined to say how many weapons Bosnian Serb were
trying to remain beyond the limit.
