OSIJEK, 8 Nov (Hina) - A one-day seminar entitled 'Croatia's Legal System' started in Osijek on Friday. The seminar is intended for the participants of the process of peaceful reintegration of the UN-administered area of eastern
Slavonia into Croatia's legal and constitutional system.
OSIJEK, 8 Nov (Hina) - A one-day seminar entitled 'Croatia's Legal
System' started in Osijek on Friday. The seminar is intended for
the participants of the process of peaceful reintegration of the
UN-administered area of eastern Slavonia into Croatia's legal and
constitutional system. #L#
The organizers of the seminar are the Government Office foe
the establishment of Croatian authority in the occupied areas,
Osijek Law School and the Civil Administration Implementation
Committee of the UN Transitional Administration in Eastern Slavonia
(UNTAES).
The seminar is also attended by local Serb representatives.
'We are taking part in the seminar in order to gain an insight
into Croatia's legal system since we have not been applying
Croatian regulations for five years', said the head of the Serb
delegation, Radovan Majski.
Implementation committees in charge of the reintegration of
certain areas (education, health, judicature) into Croatia's legal
system 'not only study the regulations, but, where possible, work
on their integration into Croatia's legal system', Majski said.
During the first part of the seminar, Croatian legal experts
discussed the legal organisation of the Republic of Croatia, the
protection of human rights and Croatia's electoral system.
The seminar will continue with discussions on the financing of
public needs, activities of the judiciary, pension and health
insurance questions, ownership and legal relations, legal aspects
of economic transition and employment and labour legislation.
