$ COMMITTEE FOR E. SLAVONIA
ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - The Croatian Education and Sport Minister,
Ljilja Vokic, on Thursday wrote to the Eastern Slavonia
Transitional Administrator, Jacques Klein, protesting over the
disbanding of the Joint Implementation Committee for Education. #L#
Noting that the Croatian Government had shown "the Serbian
minority utmost tolerance and understanding," Vokic criticised
Klein for allowing Serb committe members to "play for time,"
"reject the Croatian legal and constitutional order" and even
"insult Croatia."
Vokic reminded Klein that the curricula for eastern Slavonia,
prepared by the Serbian Cultural Society "Prosveta" in cooperation
with the Education Ministry, had been forwarded to the Temporary
Administration on September 4.
But instead of seriously considering these curricula, the
Temporary Administration disbanded the Joint Education Committee
"at the very moment when all conditions have been created to
incorporate ethnic minorities into Croatia's education system,"
Vokic wrote.
