TUZLA, Sept 15 (Hina) - A 14-member delegation of the European
Parliament yesterday supervised the Bosnian elections in Tuzla,
Sarajevo, Doboj, Brcko, Banja Luka, Bijeljina and Srebrenica,
leader of the delegation Renzo Imbeli told a press conference in
Tuzla on Sunday.
He said that the general impression on the elections was good,
apart from some problems which could have been avoided through a
different organization.
"We have visited some 60 polling stations in northern Bosnia
and saw many difficulties because the stations were too small to
accommodate so many voters. There were also many instances when
people were not on voters' lists, but in such cases most of them
could register later. There were many problems with voters who
arrived from other countries", Imbeli said.
He also warned of poor conditions at polling stations for
voters from the Bosnian Federation who wished to vote in the Serb
entity.
"The polling stations were far from the town, and roads
leading to them rather unsafe. The fact is that a polling station
for voters-displaced persons from Srebrenica that was situated in a
tent in a valley in the Srebrenica municipality was where a year
before Serbs committed crimes on the families of yesterday's
voters. For us this is a psychologically and symbolically
unacceptable way of organizing elections", Imbeli said.
