INDICTED PERSONS MUST GO TO THE HAGUE, MCLAY

SARAJEVO, 1 June (Hina) - Carl Bildt's spokesman in Sarajevo, Michael McLay rejected today the accusations concerning a deal on Radovan Karadzic's removal from public life, but he did not deny his delivery to The Hague tribunal. "We have neither seen such a document, not have we been informed that Milosevic would offer such an agreement in Geneva," McLay said. McLay reiterated that the stand of the international community was clear and that persons indicted for war crime had to take consequences for their acts. He also said that there was no room for deals and that political processes had to be sped up and that would be possible only if Karadzic was out of public life. McLay finds encouraging the fact that Serb entity representatives would participate in the conference in Florence, to analyze the implementation of the peace agreement. The conviction by Pale authorities that the agreement would be implemented is questionable now in view of the general situation in B-H and the latest wave of ethnic cleansing in the Teslic area. IFOR Commander of Sector North-East, Gen. William Nash sent today his deputy to assess the situation in the region and suggest measures for preventing the expulsions of non-Serb population. UNHCR spokesman in Sarajevo Chris Janovski warned today that the events in Teslic and the halt of bus traffic between the two entities were clear signs of a deterioration of the situation in B- H. "The chief problem is in the Bosnian Serb authorities who have an incredibly hostile attitude toward the entire notion of multiethnicity," he said. (hina) jt 011401 MET jun 96
