ZAGREB, Feb 5 (Hina) - Croatian Ministry of Culture planned to open
libraries and launch other cultural activities at the newly
liberated areas over this year, minister Bozo Biskupic said on
Monday.
"We have already scheduled our moves related to the Croatian
Danubian area to which, I hope, we will all return very soon,"
Biskupic told reporters, referring to remaining occupied eastern
Slavonia region.
National budget items for culture have risen by 22 percent
compared to last year, he said, adding the Ministry intended to
support publishing companies, particularly projects such as
translations of classic Croatian literature to foreign languages
and new Croatian translations of the world classics.
The Ministry would step up its actions on promotion of
Croatian culture in the world, on the basis of signed international
protocols on cultural cooperation, Biskupic said, adding that most
of the efforts would be directed to the Central European region.
