MOSTAR, Jan 13 (Hina) - The Herzeg-Bosnian defence ministry issued
a statement on Saturday which says that on January 12 about 3000
Bosnian Army members, supported by tanks, armoured personal
carriers and special police troops had tried to occupy the villages
of Alibegovci and Ularice in eastern parts of the Usora pocket with
Croatian majority, northern Bosnia.
The ministry described the current situation in Usora as
"extremely difficult and complicated".
The statement says that this military operation followed a
series of well-prepared and planned provocative incidents in Usora
and central Bosnia with the "two-fold objectives:
"- in order that Croats may not have big enough electorate for the
coming elections, which can ensure political equality provided for
and guaranteed by the Washington Accords;
- in order that Moslems may get enough space for accommodation of
refugees from the Serb entity, and, thus, in Usora they could
shelter refugees from Doboj and Teslic."
