SARAJEVO, 30 Nov (Hina) - The President of the Presidency of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegovic, on Sunday confirmed he would not
run in the elections to be held in September 1998.
Speaking at a panel of the Council of the Congress of Bosniak
(Muslim) Intellectuals in Sarajevo, Izetbegovic said he would
withdraw primarily because of his age.
However, he left open the possibility of changing his decision.
Izetbegovic announced his decision on not running in the elections
for the new mandate in the Bosnian Presidency six months ago, in an
interview with the Sarajevo-based newspaper 'Dnevni avaz'.
Izetbegovic then said that he intended to keep his position as the
president of the Muslim-led Party of Democratic Action (SDA).
