VIENNA, 20 Nov (Hina) - A sub-regional commission for
consultations, in charge of following the implementation of the
agreement on sub-regional arms control in former Yugoslav states
signed in 1996 in Florence, met for two-day talks in Vienna
Thursday.
Representatives of three states and five signatories to the
agreement - Croatia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Republika
Srpska - adopted reports on exchanged data on arms reduction in line
with Article 4 of Annex 1B of the Dayton agreement.
All sides agreed that obligations concerning the first and second
arms reduction stages had been fulfilled, but inspections would
continue nevertheless.
This is the final round of consultations of the sub-regional
commission this year. The consultations are chaired by Norwegian
General Vigleik Eide and held under the auspices of the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
Eide, who is to take up a new position, will be replaced by Italian
General Carlo Jean.
