SARAJEVO, Oct 23 (Hina) - Bosnian Federation Defence Minister Ante
Jelavic told Thursday's news conference that the reorganisation of
the federal army was completed and that the Croat-Bosniac forces
now numbered 45,000 soldiers.
According to Jelavic, the former Bosnian Army General Staff and the
Croatian Defence Council (HVO) Main Headquarters had already been
unified into a joint command, and a unified chain of command had
been established.
Jelavic announced the completion of arms and equipment delivery for
the Bosnian Federation army within the next two months. The
equipment includes 155-mm howitzers, multiple rocket-launcher and
non-combat vehicles.
Special US envoy in charge of military stabilisation in the
Balkans, James Pardew, said that the federal army had the right to
training, adding that the process should not be terminated, more so
because the Bosnian Serb army was holding exercises of bigger
proportion at the moment.
Pardew said that there was information that Bosnian Serb soldiers
were being trained in Yugoslavia.
