VUKOVAR, Nov 19 (Hina) - Vukovar Mayor Vladimir Stengl on Wednesday
called on all displaced people from Vukovar to use a new regime of
travel and to come to this eastern Croatian town.
Stengl recalled in a statement that as of November 19, people can
enter the UN-administered Danube region by car, but have to show a
personal identity card at police check points.
Stengl said he was satisfied that the marking of the sixth
anniversary of the fall of Vukovar on Tuesday had passed off
peacefully.
"Of course, we cannot be satisfied that a larger number of people
from Vukovar could not visit their hometown yesterday, but we are
aware that UNTAES in no way wants to threaten the successful
completion of its mandate," Stengl said.
