VUKOVAR, Oct 28 (Hina) - A committee for the restoration of trust
was established in Vukovar, eastern Croatia, on Tuesday.
In attendance were Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, the chairman of the National
Committee for the restoration of trust, and her two deputies, Ivica
Vrkic and Vojislav Stanimirovic.
The newly-established committee has nine members, of which five are
Croats, three Serbs and one representative of other national
minorities.
Vladimir Stengl, mayor of Vukovar and president of the Vukovar
trust restoration committee, called on committee members to
cooperate in solving the many problems of the town.
According to Vrkic, the committee's task is assistance in
completing the peaceful reintegration on all levels, a prompt
establishment of Croatian authority in the Danube river region, and
equal living for all residents of the area.
Stanimirovic hoped the Vukovar trust restoration committee would
become a lever for all upcoming activities in the UN-administered
part of eastern Croatia. He called on all committee members to work
together in the reconstruction of Vukovar, in the restoration of
trust and the two-way return.
