VUKOVAR, June 15 (Hina) - Data available at 11.00 hours showed that in
the Vukovar area (UN-administered eastern Croatia) 434 voters had cast
their ballots at Croatia's Sunday presidential election, the head of the
Vukovar City Election Commission, Miroslav Sovanj, said.
All 18 polling stations in Vukovar opened at 07.00 hours, Sovanj
said, adding that voter lists contained the names of 13,934 registered
voters who should cast their ballots in Vukovar, while the 11.00 hours
data on voting was gathered at 14 polling stations (11,084 registered
voters).
Displaced persons from Vukovar may vote at 74 polling stations
throughout Croatia.
At polling stations 78 and 80 in Vukovar, and at polling stations
85, 86 and 88 in the Vukovar suburb of Borovo, Croatian national symbols
had not been displayed, Sovanj said, adding that Croatian coat of arms
stickers had likewise not been put on ballot boxes, even though election
committee representatives received them, together with election
material, for this purpose.
Commenting this morning the fact that at polling station 85 there
were persons with the right to vote who were not on the voter list, UN's
deputy transitional administrator for eastern Slavonia Souren
Seraydarian said citizens were being advised to register and vote.
