ZAGREB, Mar 19 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman yesterday
chaired a session of the Defense and National Security Council, the
President's Office said in a statement on Wednesday.
Satisfaction with the international assessments of the high
credit rating and the security of investing in Croatia was
expressed, the statement said.
It added that the session also discussed the results achieved
so far in detecting and preventing all aspects of economic crime,
especially corruption.
Even though such phenomena were present in all countries with
trade economy, countries in transition in particular, and even more
than in Croatia, they must be firmly removed, the statement said.
The necessity of bigger cooperation and efficiency of the
state's supervising services and the judiciary in the systematic
detection and prevention of such negative phenomena was stated
during the discussion.
In this respect also discussed was the mode of negotiating and
signing of agreements between public enterprises and foreign
partners, with particular stress on the personal responsibility of
the public enterprises' management, their administrative and
supervisory bodies, and related ministries, the statement
concluded.
