AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - President of the Croatian Reconstruction and Development Bank Management Board, Anton Kovacev, held talks with UNTAES representatives in Borovo (Croatian Danubian area) on Thursday about the reconstruction of the Danube river region after the completion of the peaceful reintegration process. The meeting had been planned to take place at the UNTAES base in Vukovar, but due to every-day protests of local residents, it had been transferred to Borovo, a statement form the Croatian Reconstruction and Development Bank said on Friday. #L# Kovacev stressed that the basic precondition for the Bank to start work in the region was the introduction of Croatian currency which would enable business banks to enter the area. It had been stressed that it was necessary to, as soon as possible, open offices of Croatian business banks in Vukovar and other places of the Croatian Danubian area. The participants in the meeting had agreed that UNTAES would try to organize meetings between the Croatian Reconstruction and Development Bank's representatives with local entrepreneurs next week, with the aim of providing more detailed information about the possibility of developing small and middle-scale private entrepreneurship, as well as the reconstruction of war damaged commercial buildings, the statement said.
