OSIJEK, March 5 (Hina) - Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Branimir
Glavas, on Wednesday received Italian Ambassador to Croatia,
Francesco Olivieri, in Osijek.
Prefect Glavas and Ambassador Olivieri discussed the process
of peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area,
forthcoming elections and reconstruction of the area after the end
of the UNTAES mandate.
Italian Ambassador said that it was very important to Croatia
that the area would be reintegrated and added that businessmen come
to places where stable political conditions exist. He said that
ambassadors accredited to Croatia followed very attentively the
situation in the Croatian Danubian area, and assessed that the area
had good prospects of development, particularly in agriculture.
Prefect Glavas expressed his assurances that the process of
peaceful reintegration would succeed and voiced hope that a great
part of the population would accept what the Croatian Government
offered and stay in the area.
