Autor:
VUKOVAR, Mar 2 (Hina) - A delegation of the Croatian World Congress, headed by friar Simun Sito Coric, on Sunday held talks in Vukovar with the transitional administrator for the Croatian Danubian area, Jacques Klein. "It is my pleasure to welcome the respectable delegation of Croats from abroad. We know how big their contribution to the establishment of the country was, and we hope that they will also contribute in the future in the reconstruction and reintegration of this area", Klein told a press conference after the meeting, adding that important issues, such as jobs and investments, were currently undergoing revitalization. The international community, headed by General Klein, was doing a worthwhile job in this area, Coric said and added that he was confident the peaceful reintegration process would be successful. The representatives of the Croatian World Congress were acquainted with the efforts that the Croatian Government officials were, in cooperation with UNTAES and local Serb authorities, undertaking in view of the completion of the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, said the head of the Government's Temporary Administration Office, Ivic Vrkic. Assessing that all conditions for elections to be held on 13 April had been achieved, Vrkic warned that the process did not end with the elections, but that they created legitimate conditions for the introduction of Croatian authority, the return of displaced persons and the reconstruction and development of that area. At the conference, Vrkic was handed a USD 10.000 cheque by the Croatian World Congress' treasurer general, Anton Zeljko Kovacic. The cheque was a donation by the Congress for the first Croatian school to be built in Vukovar. (hina) ha 022015 MET mar 97
