SARAJEVO, March 4 (Hina) - The Croatian society of arts and sciences in
Sarajevo, on Tuesday stressed its stance against any form of violence aimed
at denying the equality of all three peoples in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The society said in a statement it was flabbergasted at frequent
attacks against priests and facilities of the Roman Catholic church.
The society expressed concern as the attacks had been happening ahead
of Pope's visit to Sarajevo, and believed that such incidents had been
directly prompted by some senior officials and media under their control.
Such situation has been caused by the fact that institutions of
culture, education, sciences and arts and information in the (Croat-Moslem)
Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina have not been established yet in the spirit
of the Dayton and Washington agreements. The institutions of this kind are
still functioning on the pre-war unitarianist basis, according to the
statement which warned that such a policy halted the return of refugees to
Bosnia-Herzegovina, particularly of Croats to Sarajevo.
The Croatian society of arts and sciences sent an open call to Bosnian
Moslem intellectuals' congress council for cooperation to alleviate the
present tensions.
