ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences
(HAZU), on Thursday appealed for peace, common sense, cooperation
and tolerance in Mostar.
The HAZU expressed regret over victims and fear of new
possible conflicts.
The HAZU advocates the just peace which implies the
maintenance of the integral Bosnia-Herzegovina, the return of
refugees and indictment and punishment of grave war criminals.
A conference of the HAZU scientific counsel for peace and
human rights, at which renowned Croatian and Moslem (Bosniak)
intellectuals gathered, sent an appeal for peace in Mostar and
called upon authorities of Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia
as well as the international community to probe into latest
incidents and violence in Mostar, punish the guilty persons and
remove them from responsible posts.
The conference's participants called on the media to stop
inciting hatred and to represent the truth and promote life in
peace and tolerance. This item attracted most attention of the
participants, some of whom held that the electronic media in
Croatia showed astonishing one-sidedness in reporting on Mostar,
and that media should "inform more, and comment less rather than
condemning."
