Editor-in-Chief Krsto Cviic said that Tjednik did not have an
ideology, nor a political programme, but that its goal was many-sided and
comprehensive reporting about events of the week in Croatia, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, countries in transition and the world.
The basic goal was to create a modern newsmagazine, Cviic said.
Tjednik's director Slavko Goldstein confirmed Cviic's views, stressing
that the weekly was "an independent medium which is neither inclined to the
opposition nor the government".
He added that the magazine had been published in 60,000 copies and
that 1,000 copies had already been sold to UNTAES in Osijek where there was
a lot of interest for the central subject of the first issue, the dossier on
the Croatian Danubian area.
