ROME, Sept 4 (Hina/AR) - The Croatian Interior Ministry has
launched an investigation into the death of an Italian national
Riccardo Cetina, Italian papers reported Friday.
The 44-year old dentist from Genova died in Split hospital on
Thursday morning.
Cetina died from injuries sustained during a police intervention in
a Sibenik restaurant.
The Croatian Interior Ministry said the police were called to
intervene after Cetina disturbed public order and peace.
During the intervention, the Italian national offered resistance
and attacked police officers.
"Repubblica" and "Corriere della Sera" published a short agency
report on the incident while the Trieste-based "Piccolo" published
the news on the front page.
All papers carried Hina's news item with the Croatian Interior
Ministry statement.
Most papers stressed that the police killed the Italian national.
Cetina was born in Udine, but worked as a dentist in Genova.
The Italian press says Cetina died from injuries inflicted on him by
the police who were trying to arrest him.
"Corriere della Sera" said Cetina had problems in the past with the
police in South Africa.
One of his favourite hobbies was travelling alone, the paper said.
